SEA GEM LOG January 13, 2000
SRI LANKA We arrived in Galle, in Sri Lanka at 03:45 local time. Captain Charlie maneuvered us into the designated night anchorage and dropped the anchor. Charlie had been
up most of the night as there was a lot of traffic. The seas were calm and the last part of the trip was challenging primarily because of the heavy traffic and finding the correct markers among all the confusing
shore lights. After we were anchored we all slept until about 08:30 and then rose for chores, breakfast and to await instructions from Rally Control as to when we can enter
the inner harbor for Customs clearance and fuel. As I told you in an earlier log, the halyard snap had given way and dropped the MPS sail while we were at sea. This morning Charlie climbed the mast to
retrieve the wayward halyard. I always have my heart somewhat in my throat when he climbs up the mast but he does it with out concern - not for sissies. Right now we are just marking time till we go in to check
in, take our laundry and see what we can find out about getting our leaking refrigerator pump parts and possible even some one besides Charlie to work on it. We also hope to find a Hot Mail Cafe so that we
can receive our "hot mail" and send some, including this log. Until later from Galle, Sri Lanka . . . |
