Puerto Calero is a delightful 250-berth marina. In every detail it is evident that
this is a well-managed establishment. The facilities are well planned, the security good, and the surroundings beautiful. After meeting the owner and designer of Puerto Calero, Senor Jose Calero Rodriguez we better understand the passion that went into the design of this world-class establishment. Senor Calero or "Pepe," has designed a five star destination resort, and he is well on the way to achieving his goal. Both a golf course and luxury hotel are in the works.

The marina staff functions well, mainte
nance
is excellent, and the support services to visitors are convenien t and attractive. We w ere especially impressed with the water quality in the marina, illustrated here by the young girl feeding the fish in the clear clean water.

We feel comfortable leaving Sea Gem in such a secure p lace for five months. W e plan our return in late December for our Atlantic crossing. Senor Calero introduced us to h is handsome son Jose, who is also very interested in the complex that his father is building. Opportunities for recreation, location for a holiday home and investment possibilities abound on Lanzarote. Europeans are very conscious of the Canary destination and I see possibilities in the future for Americans to "discover" this destination retreat.

M.A.S.T. (Marine Application System Technology) owned and operated by Brian and Maria Ash is on site at Puerto Calero to co-ordinate all types of yacht work. Brian, his expert
technician, Jan, and his wife Maria, inspire confidence when they run their flag up on your boat. Their flag designates the boats they care for so that the marina staff can call immediately if they see anything wrong as they make their routine rounds.

Homecoming is sweet especially when it means being reunited with family. December will come quickly and we plan to be on the sea crossing the Atlantic.
