Wylie has been sailing for over twenty years. Mostly on area lakes (Lake County), and in the Tampa Bay area. His family had a Cabo Rica 38 in St. Pete, on
which they sailed the west coast of Florida, the Keys and the Bahamas. Now he charter's bareboats.
He take's every opportunity to sail with others in need
of a crew. Wylie has crossed the Gulf of Mexico eight times on the Nora J (Cabo Rica). He crewed with the Gray's o Sea Gem from St. Augustine to Bermuda, Titusville to Key West, and
Isla Mujeres, Mexico to Titusville. He returned a boat from Bermuda to Connecticut after the Newport to Bermuda race in 1994. In 1998 he crewed in the Havana Cup Regatta, from Tampa
Bay to Havana, Cuba, on a Pearson 40.
He is active in the United States Power Squadron holding a Piloting Certification. Wylie has
also served on the Boy's and Girl's Club of Lake and Sumter Counties Board of Directors for five years, two of which he served as president. He is delighted to be a part of Sea Gem's crew
of the Millennium Odyssey from Ft. Lauderdale to Montego Bay.
Wylie is president of J.E. Hill Contractor, Inc., a precast concrete company, which
manufactures products for highway and dairy industries. He is married to Rebecca, a certified Wedding Consultant. They lived on Lake Harris, in Leesburg.
